Bob Ware
The following email was sent out by Vic Blackwood last evening (4 August 2024):
‘Gents,
It is with great sadness I have learned that Bob Ware has died.
I suspect the majority of long-time members of BMFC were acquainted with Bob. He was a founding member of both this Club and the ‘Ghost Squadron’, fore-runner of the LMA. An amazing modeller who was always willing to help any club member repair or build any type of model. He was also a wonderful instructor, who could calm novices and experienced flyers with his easy manner and ready expertise.
Always a supporter of the Rougham Airshows, he specialised in large (30%) Piper Cubs and WWI biplanes which he flew in a very scale-like manner.
Following a medical problem, he stopped model-flying yet somehow managed to get a fair amount of ‘real’ air time courtesy of the full-size flying at Rougham. However, as his health deteriorated, he had to give that up as well.
His family have stated that it will be a closed private funeral, although any tributes may be sent to his home address, should you wish.
Bobsky will be missed!
Vic’
