Photo Reports
Reports are listed below more or less in the order in which the first report on a subject was published. In practice this often means that there can be an overlap – where for example, subsequent Ron Gray Hi8US reports are published after Peter Jenkins kicked off his B J Craft Anthem build, and after Kevin Hunts words of wisdom on choosing and using propellers.
To see what’s new the best place is to scan the Builds & Renovations news items.
If you know the subject it may be easier to view the Photo Reports Index instead.

Peter Jenkins latest F3A Build, with a cracking new motor arrangement:
Something a little different, but invaluable for many:
After a two year hiatus, Ian McDowell has been inspired by Dave Gregson’s Beaufighter, to have another go at completing the DeHavilland Hornet build and conversion from free flight to powered radio control:
The original reports are 2 years further down on this list…or you could just click here and also see the maiden videos.
Something completely different. Ron Gray is organising a 2023 flying competition, based upon a single design. Cheap and cheerful, the Hanky Planky may be made from balsa…but Ron chose cheaper foam sheet for his version.
This design was featured in the November 2022 RCM&E, and has been selected as our chosen steed for 2023 ‘Wacky Races’ club competition. You will need one built and tested by April 2023.
Competition details to follow, but to view what we know so far, plus the ‘how to’ build report and instructions on building the foamie version, click on the image below.
Tibenham, the story and the pictures, by Kevin Fairgrieve:
Ron has started his reports of the YT Hurricane refurbishment. Since the ‘taster’ reports were a while ago (and further down the page), I have started a new sequence of the reports here.
I have taken the unusual step of putting a high resolution copy of these ‘before’ pictures alongside a more usual high quality copy. It will take longer to download, but the reward is that the detail is pretty close to the original photographs. Usual quality on the left, Hi-res on the right:
